Discipline

Minor offences are dealt with by a boy’s Tutor and / or his Head of Year. For such offences a boy may be detained after school for a 45 minute detention. If a detention is imposed, parents of Fifth Formers and below are given at least one day’s notice by means of a slip which they are required to sign.

For more serious offences, or an accumulation of minor offences, a boy may be required to serve a detention of two hours on a Saturday morning, which is run by members of the Senior Management Team. Notice of a Saturday detention will be given to parents in a letter from the Headmaster who may also impose such detentions at the start or end of terms.

If the Second Master considers the circumstances sufficiently serious to warrant it, he may at his discretion suspend a boy from school for any period of time. The Headmaster may, on occasions, decide that a boy should be permanently excluded from the School. Parents have the right to appeal against such a decision, by applying to the Board of Governors.

There is no corporal punishment.
